Is depletion trying to grip your gaze?

Okay, so you can feel it. That heaviness that tries to set in and make you feel depleted. You feel you have nothing left to give and even the smallest amount of difficulty or resistance, when you just try to step forward and do life, makes you feel that there’s no more fuel in the tank to deal with what’s staring you in the face.

Depletion relentlessly tries to tell you to give up.

Don’t.

Don’t give up and turn away.

Ties that bind.

Untie the string that’s tied around your waist. That string, that’s like a chain, that’s connected to a long line of carriers, loaded with every similar event, experience and difficulty or disappointment that you faced in the past, triggered by what you are facing today. Take off that weight. Let it go and remember it no more.

We all go through different struggles and when we keep those struggles in remembrance, dragging them along, we build a whole archive that catalogues the same events as we encounter them throughout our lives. These events try to teach us certain things. Things like;  you are not able (maybe you failed a few times), no one cares about you (maybe you’ve been abandoned), there’s no-one to help (maybe you’ve been disappointed), and the list could go on. The enemy opportunistically tries to use every similar event to drive these narratives home and get you to believe them. Don’t take it on board. Cut the ties to those lies that try to keep you in bondage, that leave you feeling drained.

We can only stay depleted if we keep our gaze on those sources, those events, that depleted us in the first place. The mere thought of them may bring a flood of feelings that try to overload you and make you feel exhausted. Those sources are mostly found in our yesterdays - where we felt we gave until we had nothing left, sometimes to our own detriment. Maybe when we kept on saying yes when we should have said no. When we should have allowed change and moved, but we chose to stay too long. When we should have spoken up, but we kept quiet. It is in the past. But when we remember it and encounter something similar again today. It can feel like a lifetime of depletion jumps onto our back and the weight becomes a heavy burden that keeps us from moving forward with God, today.

Shift your gaze.

Put yesterday’s disappointments down again. Take a deep breath and remember the truth. Set your gaze on you Papa. God’s mercies are new every single day. Every single day starts anew. It’s the power of a clean slate. Every single day has an endless supply of strength, lovingly supplied by your Papa. You lack nothing. Everything you would ever need is found in your Father’s heart, and He has given it to you. The old you has been buried and everything attached to that life, has been buried with it. You are a new creation, completely different from the old one. The future will be filled with joy and freedom. We will not follow in our old ways again. We have been taught by God and what held us then, will not hold us now. It will not be as it was.

You are an overcomer.

Stand tall, you are a daughter of the Most High God. You are capable and strong, because He strengthens you. You can boldly choose to move forward differently, to choose differently, you know how to think about the situation now - you have your Papa’s favour and the mind of Christ. Keep on following Him, set your gaze on Him and on the beautiful promises and hope that He has deposited into your heart. Give one bold step at a time, following in the ways He has taught you. You are an overcomer. You will keep on overcoming, one step at a time.

Goodbye depletion. Hello abundance. We set our gaze on Him.

A word from your Papa's heart.

‘Dear daughter, put every heavy weight, connected to your past, down and take just one step forward with Me, today. Let go of all the hurt, pain, despair and disappointment that tries its best to leave you depleted. I AM your help, I AM your strength and it is My desire to pour out my goodness upon you. You are never alone, I am with you.’

Conversations with God

Papa, I see Your eyes. They are love. You are compassionate, kind, full of goodness, and overflowing in mercy and forgiveness. Thank you for pouring your abundant grace out on my life. I am not the old me and every failure, now and forever has been taken care of, by You. Thank You! Thank you that you see me clothed in beautiful garments of righteousness. I choose to hold on to You, to My Prince of Peace, and to follow You without gazing backwards. All of my hope and strength is in You, I have You - everything I would ever need is in You, in every encouragement and promise you have given me. Remind me of the Truth; of who You are and who I am in You. Keep my mind and heart free from distraction and help Me to focus my attention on every word You have spoken to me. Thank You that Your plans for me are to prosper me and to give me hope, a beautiful future of joy, and freedom. I choose to follow You and to lay every discouragement and disappointment, that tries to bind me to the past, down again. Thank You that You are my help. I trust You.
